According to the latest report from Japanese media outlet Nikkei, one reason for delaying the release of Switch 2 internally is to avoid potential supply shortages.
While Nintendo originally planned to launch Switch 2 by the end of 2024, Nikkei states that “in order to prevent widespread reselling, Nintendo prioritized ensuring sufficient initial stock and launch games for its upcoming gaming console.”
Nikkei predicts that Nintendo’s next-generation console will once again be a hybrid portable home device similar to the current Switch model.
Additionally, it confirms that this new device will have a larger screen compared to the original Switch’s 6.2-inch display size. Furthermore, Nikkei highlights there is a possibility of delaying Switch 2 until after March 2025 based on production conditions and game readiness.
